Sue Simpson of Cellfield Otago is based in Balclutha. The Cellfield intervention is provided at the Kip McGrath centres in Balclutha, Mosgiel or Dunedin. Other sites are possible but depend on access to suitable computers.

Cellfield is a unique and effective intervention for those diagnosed with dyslexia, reading disabilities or who have an unexplained reading difficulty. We would like to have the opportunity to help your child to read better.

If you are concerned that your child may have a reading disability we can provide a dyslexia screening test. A screening test can be a one off, simply used to eliminate a concern that something is not quite right. It can be used to identify areas of difficulty and make it easier to decide on a course of action. Part of our initial screening is a special eye examination with an optometrist.

A dyslexia screening test is part of the Cellfield Intervention. Reading tests are used to establish a baseline prior to the intervention and parallel forms of the tests are used after to assess its effectiveness. The data collected is stored and analysed. This helps us to identify those most likely to benefit from the intervention.

The completion of the on line questionnaire is desirable and can help us judge initial suitability of the candidate.

Once you have completed the online questionnaire, call Sue on 0508Reading to arrange for a pre assessment.

The pre-assessment will include:

1. a dyslexia screening test,

2. specific reading tests to establish a base line for the subject,

3. a unique Cellfield eye examination by a registered optometrist or ophthalmologist.
